The American Radio Relay League now offers Emergency Communication Courses online, including EC-001. These are self-paced courses either all by yourself or with a mentor.

Hurricane Fiona – Hurricane Watch Net

Update from the Hurricane Watch Net…

Overnight, Fiona grew into a powerful Cat 4 Hurricane with sustained winds of 135 mph. As of the 5:00 PM EDT (2100 UTC) Advisory 30, Fiona was located at 25.6N 71.5W or about 615 miles (990 km) southwest of Bermuda and about 1385 miles (2225 km) south-southwest of Halifax Nova Scotia. Tropical Storm Fiona – Hurricane Watch Net

The Hurricane Watch Net was temporarily secured at 2100 EDT on 17 September. The net will resume at 0900 EDT on 18 September using both 14.325 and 7.268 MHz.


The National Hurricane Center forecasts TS Fiona to make landfall as a category 1 hurricane in southwest Puerto Rico sometime Sunday PM. In preparation, the Hurricane Watch Net will activate today, September 17, from 5:00 PM EDT through 10:00 PM EDT on 14.325 and 7.268 MHz.
