ClayARES Stands down from Activation

hurricane+hermineAt 12:24 on September 2, the last shelter closed and ClayARES returned to ‘No Level.”

Thank you to everyone one who checked into the net and ans especially those who activated and worked the situation.  Here is a brief synopsis of the situation.

At approx 1100 on September 1, John Ward from Clay County Department of Emergency management requested ClayARES Activate at one special needs shelter.  Then, at 1345, he advised that the situation had changed and that we would need to activate at three shelters by 1700.

Lake Asbury Junior High was activated as the Special Needs shelter and was manned by Joe Bassett, W1WCN.  Later he was joined by Dave Smith, N4VIL.

Orange Park High School was activates as a General Population / Pet Friendly shelter and was manned by Jim Winfrey, KJ4SBG.

Keystone Heights High School was activated as a General Population shelter and was manned by Adrian Gray, K4AWG.

The EOC was activated at 1430 by Scott Roberts, KK4ECR.  Later, he was joined by Ray Cook, WD4SEN.

Operations started at shelters at approx 1700 on September 1.  At 0900 on September 2, operations secured at both Keystone Heights and Orange Park High.

At 1000 on Septmber 2, Joe Bassett was relieved by Carl Robinson, W9FH, and Ray Cook and Scott Roberts were relieved by Mark Fields, N4QLC.

Thank you to those who worked very long hours to serve our community.  Additional details of the situation will be made available as After Action reports are finalized.
